每年五月由中華民國僑務委員會主辦及相關部會贊助，由大波特蘭臺灣同鄉會（Taiwanese Association of Greater Portland，簡稱 TAGP）所組織承辦的臺美人傳統週，是波特蘭僑界最備受期待以及萬眾矚目的年度重點活動之一。今年也不容例外，將於五月七日（週四）的晚間七點半起，在 Portland'5 Center for the Arts 的 Winningstad Theatre，由來自臺灣的中國文化大學舞蹈學系的華岡舞團為波特蘭的朋友們帶來別開生面的表演。
華岡舞團創立於一九六七年，成員均為文化大學舞蹈學系校友及在校師生，成立以來每年均定期舉辦年度公演，推出包括現代舞、芭蕾與古典舞等創新舞碼，內容多元豐富。自一九六八年膺命參加在墨西哥舉辦之奧運會國際文化展覽會演出，以及一九七〇年在日本大阪萬國博覽會表演後，即經常奉派或受邀參加國際各項舞蹈活動，足跡遍及歐美、加拿大、紐澳、亞洲、埃及等二十餘國，所到之處備受友邦人士及當地僑胞熱烈歡迎和讚賞。 華岡舞團這次的演出內容以臺灣本土舞蹈為主軸，除了呈現原住民豐年祭歌舞、臺灣廟會節慶的「藝陣」外，還集結了許多動聽的閩南、客家的歌曲及音樂，以創新的手法編創出多首風格迥異的舞碼。內容豐富多元，期盼藉著精彩動人的展演，能讓海外僑胞與國際友人看見臺灣舞蹈藝術之美，牽起臺灣情，進而對臺灣有更深入的暸解。 欲共襄盛舉的朋友們，請至大波特蘭臺灣同鄉會的官方網站 www.tagp.org 來瞭解活動詳情及購票方式，預購從速，以免向隅！ 日期：二O一五年五月七日 (週四) 時間：七點入場 / 七點半節目開始 地點：Portland5’s Center for the Arts’ Winningstad Theatre 地址：1111 SW Broadway Portland OR 97205 演出：文化大學舞蹈學系華岡舞團 票價：

An internationally renowned dance troupe, Hwa Kang Dance Troupe from Taiwan’s own Chinese Culture University, will visit Portland on Thursday May 7th to present a theme of Impressive Taiwan, Love from Formosa. The event will be held at Portland 5’ Winningstad Theatre at 7pm.
For 23 years now, the month of May have been designated as “Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month” to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Asian and Pacific Americans with community festivals, government-sponsored activities and educational activities for students. In year 1999, the Formosan Association for Public Affairs designated the week of the Mother's day in May as the "Taiwanese American Heritage Week" to celebrate the contribution of Taiwanese Americans to this country; the initiation was blessed with a congratulatory letter from the then President Clinton. This year, the Taiwanese Association of Greater Portland and Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of Taiwan continues to play a major role in bringing the performers to the U.S. and, specifically, to the Portland metropolitan region. The event is open to the public. The Hwa Kang Dance Troupe, from the Chinese Culture University of Taiwan, was founded in 1967. Members of troupe are mostly students and alumni of the Dance Department of the university. The mission of the troupe is to promote and perform the dance art and increase the performance experience for their student dancers. The troupe is often invited to perform around the world, including United State, Europe, Canada, Australia, Asia, and Egypt. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $50 for VIP.
