Game Rules
1. Game time: A. 25 minutes/half with a total of 2 halves per one game. B. Stop clock with each timeout for both halves. And in the last 3 minutes of 2nd half, clock stops for each dead ball. C. Half time break: 5 minutes. D. Overtime: 5 minutes for each over time. Clock stops with each timeout and each dead ball in the last 2 minutes of an overtime. E. 5 seconds to inbound the ball. F. Ball needs to pass the center line within 10 seconds. G. All games will begin on time according to the schedule. Team must be warmed up before and be ready to play at the time indicated on the schedule. 2. Timeouts: A. Two timeouts for each half in a regular game, no carry over into 2nd half B. One timeout for each over time, no carry over. C. A player can call timeout when he/she has the ball D. Each time is 1 minute 3. Fouls/Free Throws (FT) A. Each player has 5 personal fouls, which means when a player has 5th personal foul, he/she is fouled out. B. When there is a team foul #7, we start 1 1 FT C. When there is a team foul #10, we start 2 FTs D. 2 FTs applied to all shooting fouls. E. When a player shoots 1 1 or 2nd FT of 2 FTs, other players can jump in for a rebound after ball leaves that player’s hand. 4. Jump ball possession A. The alternative possession rule applied. For example, if one team has the possession from the jump ball at the beginning of the ball game, the next following jump ball possession will go to another team. B. No jump ball for beginning of 2nd half. C. Jump ball for each over time. 5. Substitution A. Substitutions on a dead ball must yell to referee, “Substitute or SUB!” Fouls & Technical 1. Personal fouls and technical fouls added to disqualify players: Personal fouls and technicals are combined for purposes of disqualifying a player. Five (5) foul disqualify a player. Technicals for uniforms are not counted. 2. One & one foul shot bonus: Shooting one and one is in effect on the seventh (7) team foul in the half. On the tenth (10) team foul, it becomes 2 shots (FTs). All personal fouls and technical are combined to reach the bonus except technicals given for uniform violations. 3. Three point free throws: Three (3) free throws will be given to the 3-poin shooter fouled on an unsuccessful attempt. 4. Casual profanity rule: Officials may blow their whistle and call a profanity violation against a team at any time-resulting one free throw and the possession awarded to opponents. These does not count as personal fouls or team fouls. Profanity directed to an official is still a technical. 5. Technical fouls: One free throw and the possession awarded to the opponents for each technical foul. If a player becomes belligerent, the 2nd technical fouls will be awarded 6. Second technical foul: The player who has 2 technical fouls must leave the facility and sit out his next game. If the player is causing a problem - the game will STOP – the team has 5 minutes to remove the player from the gym, escort him to his car and send him away. OTHERWISE the player will be assessed with a third technical foul and the game will be over. 7. Second ejection from game: Any team that has two or more players ejected from the same game, the game will be forfeited. 8. Flagrant fouls: Two FT shots and the possession will be awarded to flagrant fouls (not to be confused with intentional fouls). 9. Dunking: No dunking will be allowed at Any time, not before, during, or after a game. Individuals breaking this rule will receive a misconduct technical – one free throw and the player will SIT OUT THE HALF. If it’s after their game – they sit out the first half of their next game. 10. Uniform technical: At the start of the game – 1 FT and the possession will be awarded to the opponent. Players do not sit out the game. 11. Sub-In technical: Substitution on a dead ball must yell to referee, “Substitute or SUB!” Players not follwing the proper Sub-in procedure can result in a technical foul. 12. Ejection: The officials have the right to eject a player, coach, or spectator from the game or gym, at any time, for any offense they deem warrants such a response. Forfeitures 1. Any team which cannot field eligible players at the schedule game time will forfeit the game. 2. There will be no postponed games. 3. Teams using non-registered persons (those who are not officially on the team roaster) will forfeit game in which individual plays. 4. Individuals who play under an assumed name will cause the team to forfeit the game in which they played.
Team captains may elect to start a game with one referee, or wait 10 minutes for the second referee to show. If the second referee does not show, the game will proceed with one referee. Uniforms: All players on a team must wear the same colored jersey with numbers on the back. No taped numbers will be allowed. A technical fouls will be called on each player who enters the game without a proper uniform. No switching for sharing uniform. Supplemental information 1. Each team must provide a game ball and the official shall choose the best ball to play with. 2. Watches and jewelry (this including wedding bands) are prohibited. Players will receive a technical foul if they wear jewelry during a game. 3. The basketball director will have the right to immediately suspend any player or players from further play, for a length of time deemed appropriate. 4. Supplements to the regulations governing the play in this program may be issued by the basketball director as they are needed. Liability A program of this nature, being one of a recreation nature and those who participate recognizing the hazards attendant to such participation, will in no way hold TAGP (Taiwanese Association of Greater Portland) liable for any injury that occurs as a result of their participation in this program. Please remind your players of these rules: 1. NO alcoholic beverages on the property (Not even empty cans being thrown away) 2. NO smoking 3. NO chewing tobacco on the property 4. NO dunking or hanging the rims – It’s a technical!! (Anyone doing this intentionally at the end of a game will sit out their next game) 5. NO food or drink in the gyms (except players) 6. NO glass containers (Plastic water bottles are OK).
